Casa Pelecals is located in Pelacals, a small farming hamlet - once a medieval stronghold - in a rural setting described by a leading Catalan poet as a 'time capsule'. Even in the height of summer it remains tranquil and verdant, with narrow lanes stretching out into the countryside, and yet is only three miles away from the charming and lively seaside town of L’Escala, well stocked with restaurants and good shops. Also, just two miles away is St Marti / Ampurias, famed for its Greek/Roman city remains. (In 1998 in the 'Sunday Times', under 'My Hols', Barry Norman, film critic, said about St. Marti..'We go to a small village on the northern Costa Brava, very small, very unspoilt - so unspoilt I don't want to give the name away, although it isn't hard to find....'). Pelacals itself, although boasting a few village street lights and a village square, does not have any shops. But only half a mile down the road, several small shops in the quiet village of Viladamat very adequately provide

Casa Pelecas was Built very solidly in stone with classic red roof tiles, and with parts - notably the 'prison' -dating back hundreds of years, it forms the end to a working farmhouse. In fact, until the mid eighties it was still home for cattle and chickens! Bought in 1987, it needed masses of work and refurbishment, but by 1992 was ready for letting. Every year since then we have been adding and improving, especially in terms of achieving comfort and attractive decor and furnishings. During all of these improvements the owners have tried to retain the house's essential rustic Catalan character in terms of architectural and original features. We have limited the maximum occupancy to four guests, so there is masses of room to spread out and relax in! Guests are always amazed at how spacious the inside of the house is, and how cool it is even on the hottest day. This is difficult to really appreciate from the outside, or from the photos, but perhaps the diagram will give you some idea.
